Radioautographic Study of Cell Renewal System on Myeloid Tissue of Mouse in Different Ages

Abstract
One face of many profiles on cell renewing patterns of the bone marrow tissues from normal albino mouse had been investigated by means of radioautographic technique using tritiated thymidine. The sixty-seven experimental animals, of which 29 are female and 38 are male, were distributed from 4-day to more than one year old in their postnatal ages, and put into two main groups; suckling young and mature. Then successive subgroups were redivided as 4-day, 1-week, 2-week and 3-week olded groups for the su-kling young¢¥s, and 6-week olded young and more than one year olded aged mature¢¥s.
The animals were treated with single dose of H©ø-thymidine, 0.8 microcurie per gram of body weight of intraperitoneal injection. The bone marrow tissues from vertebra and femur were removed promptly 2-hour after the treatment, and possible all nucleated cells were studied after necessary procedures.
1. It appears to be that the tendencies were shown negligiblly influenced by successive increase of postnatal age; means relatively constant, this fact is especially clear for those of the vertebral.
2. Unexpectedly low cell renenwings were met in present procedure.
3. Throughout present observation, much more nuclear labeling in the vertebral marrow than the femur¢¥s in an age group regardless both the age and sexes. This tendency were more prominent in the mature¢¥s than suckling groups.
4. In the mature female¢¥s, comparatively high nuclear labeling were noticed during the estrus stage regardless the age than the diestrus stage. This fact was given an implication that this kind of the nuclear labeling patterns might be influenced by the ovarian cyclic change under higher hormonal control complex, as far as the cell renewing concern in present experimental situation.
5. From this depending facts, somewhat interesting cell renewing patterns was suggested that "The organ specificity of its own could be carefully explainable.
